#705 The best things in life are old, loved and rescued...

The good old days are making a comeback! From quality craftsmanship to retro designs, there is some classic furniture that should come back in style.

One of these is the Ministry ‘Phone Box’ that Scarlet Creative has made for you all, or otherwise known as: telephone booth, telephone kiosk, telephone call box, or public call box, it has been given many names over the decades.

The phone box was a smallish structure furnished with a payphone and designed for a telephone user's convenience that normally resided on each street corner.  This vintage pillar box style, normally created with a cast iron exterior and domed roof to its crown insignia and paneled windows. Scarlet Creative has brought this vintage décor to life and available in a variety of four awesome colours.

Did you know though, in a very ‘Get Smart’ sort of concept, this Phone Box has a secret. A secret that it comes with an awesome hidden skybox at a quick touch (more pics to come) that you enter via the Phone Box.

So what are you waiting for, come take a walk to our destinations for today, the Ministry Phone Box is exclusively available through LuxeBox - October 2017 LuxeBox .

#704 I remember the good ole days...

Recently I was contacted by some old friends that I had not seen or heard from in about 15 years. Oh the power of facebook! As we talked, I began to realize that they might be victims of what I refer to as Glory Day Syndrome, which is basically a nostalgic longing for the so called " Good ole Days".

We all started to speak of the good ole days and it brought back a flood of memories:-

·        I remember growing up in a yard filled with fruit trees, you name it (mulberries galore) which was an adventure in itself. If you could not climb a tree then you were at the mercy of the people who could, and I am happy to say I was an expert climber.
·        I remember being a real tomboy, flying kites, playing marbles and cricket. Racing the boys to the beach and yelling out “slow coaches”. Those were the good old days. I loved them.

Hopefully, we all have fond memories associated with different times of our lives, times that stood out as special. We think of those times with great fondness and we enjoy reflecting on them.

As long as we can continue to look forward to tomorrow with a positive sense of eager anticipation then we are fine. Our good old days are just the really memorable parts of our living experience, but we also need to focus on creating memorable moments now.

So what are your good ole day memories?

#703 It's just down the path, we call it our 'Happy End'..

Scarlet Creative have released their latest home creation for Collabor88 called the "Scarlet Creative Harry Pottering Shed".

What you may not know is that a little while back Scarlet Creative - aka Charlotte Bartlett was asking people what would you like to see next. There were discussions around add on's, and I must admit I yelled out as loud as I could that I would love to see more smaller timber open plan homes and this one is absolutely devine and exactly what I was after for my land.

The timber panelling, unique timber atmosphere, you can almost smell the sandalwood as it whispers in the breeze.

#702 Baby, You're not here with me..

Long-distance relationships are particularly interesting precisely because of the twist that geographical separation inevitably gives to a romantic relationship.  Any new love affair raises issues of: When to be together, How to be together, Why be together, and, naturally, When and How and Why to be apart. The tension runs deeper: how much of one’s life does a person want to share with a lover and how much privacy is required?
In a long-distance relationship, availability is, by definition, limited by time and space, becoming an important component of how the relationship can evolve and what is necessary to maintain it.  With geographic distance in the mix, not only do a couple need to confront how much closeness and how much separation they want, they also need to deal with the distance and the difficulty to be close with each other.
Usually, the beginning of a relationship is about getting to know your significant other more and during that time period you are merely enjoying each other’s company without the bickering and without the realisation of their/your daily (bad) habits.  When you are getting to know a person, you sort of have this cloudy fog over your eyes. When the fog lifts it is the little things that start to bug people in relationships, say for example, the leaving up of the toilet seat, or when cleaning teeth sprays the glass with the toothpaste. All of these hidden habits a long distance relationship do not exist.
he struggle with long distance relationships is just in fact the separation and lack of closeness and getting to know that person on a more personal level, even with their little annoying habits and finding a way to be together.

#701 Home is not a place but a feeling..

Picking out a new house can be exciting and terrifying at the same time, especially when you also might be choosing a new location to live. So how do you choose? What if the house has problems you can't afford to fix? What’s the tiebreaker if you love two places equally?
The first and only way to begin the decision-making process is to grab your calculator. A dream home becomes a nightmare the moment you can't afford it. “As you calculate, look beyond the listing price,” Look at what the repayments will be when and if the interest rates go up say (3x, 4x even). Can you afford it..
When looking for a place to live, you need to as my mother used to say, take off those rose coloured glasses. Look at the heating, cooling of the house, for eg: A house with vaulted ceiling costs more to heat than one with a low ceiling. A house with a pool means paying to maintain it, or spending your weekends scrub scrub, scrub. All these extra factors can add up.

So what is it that makes a home a home.. It is a feeling. This is where the rose coloured glasses definitely come off. It is a sensation of peace on a cozy rainy Sunday, imagining yourself tucked up on my favourite chair watching the rain drip down the glass window, the feeling of relief when you pull into the driveway after a long trip; a quiet kiss on the head of a baby asleep in my lap; the warmth of my partner’s arms as we soak up the sun outside, the dog sitting in his favourite place.

Home has been many places for me over the years, but its comforts are defined by simple, blissful moments like these...

#700 I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet..

A friend of mine decided enough was enough, she had liked a guy online for so long, but always chickened out at the end when he asked to meet. I couldn’t fathom why she was so scared to meet in person. Lets just say she was a mix of Angela Jolie with her damn eyes and hair and the bubbly laughter of Goldie Hawn.
He has seen her through vid, cam, snapchat and every every other technological ways except the real deal.
It’s the online dating elephant in the room – how soon should you meet a prospective partner face-to-face? At what point do you stop messaging and take your flirtation out into the real world? Is it the thorny issue that people imagine it can be.  Of course, exchanging a barrage of emails – even phone calls or Skyping– can seem more secure in the comfort of your own home. Can you actually ‘get to know’ someone from behind the safety of a screen.
Put simply, how soon you meet will have a direct effect on your chemistry. Wait too long? You could be consigning yourself to a disappointing date. Thankfully, the window isn’t too terrifying (no one is saying that you have to slurp coffee in the first 24 hours), but after seeing each other face to face many times on screen, it is time to move to the big wide world. Flaws or perfection it doesn't matter, be content who you are and go for it!
